FINALLY! Rebecca Adlington wins ten stars on first-ever Bushtucker Trial on I'm A Celebrity...after weeks of exemptions

She may be an Olympic swimming champion, but it was sink or swim for Rebecca Adlington when she took part in her first ever Bushtucker Trial for I'm A Celebrity on Friday.
The blonde athlete, 24, was forced to undertake the Drown Under challenge, which saw her submerged in a tank filled with baby crocodiles and massive spiders.
But she emerged triumphant securing the full ten stars for camp. She said: 'I’m absolutely buzzing. My first trial, ten stars, I couldn’t be more happy.'

She added: 'I’m pleased with myself for doing it and yeah it was amazing and I loved it.'

Vincent said: 'The fact that Rebecca came back with ten stars what was the maximum. That was definitely the right decision that we made that we sent Rebecca to do the trial.'
She bounded into camp and was delighted with the positive reaction to her news. 'There were crocs, eels, lizards, spiders, crabs, like everything was in there. They just kept throwing them in. But it was so much fun. It was mint.' she said.

David said 'It’s a feel good thing all round really. It’s a feel good factor that she’s done it. And it’s a feel good factor that she’s supplied food for everyone so everybody adores her.'
'I knew you’d do it' said Matthew. 'I’m so pleased', replied Rebecca.
David graciously hugged her saying: 'Fantastic. Well done.'
The task ended weeks of medical exemptions for the contestant, whose lack of involvement had started to annoy fans of the hit ITV show.

When told about the task by co-presenters Ant & Dec, the athlete looked fearsome - raising her hands to her face and wincing.
A short time later she was lowered into the small pool, which was inhabited by a number of unpleasant guests including: baby crocodiles, water spiders, snakes and crabs.
Wearing a mask, she was forced to dive under the surface and collect stars from the floor.
Each star translates into a meal for her fellow contestants, who have been getting increasingly hungry during their stay.

That aside, Rebecca also understood that succeeding in the task would end the onslaught of criticism from frustrated viewers, who've been getting impatient with her regular exemption from the show's most entertaining moments.
One pointed out: 'Why is @BeckAdlington on #imaceleb She cant expect to get what she wants career wise if she's not playing the game #AnnoyingCamper.'
Rebecca's exclusion from the Bushtucker Trials didn't go down too well with her fellow campmates either, with TV presenter Matthew Wright said to have been surprised by the Olympic gold medal winner’s lack of competitive spirit.

But Rebecca isn’t the first contestant on this year’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! to be excused from a task on doctor’s order, as both David Emanuel and Matthew Wright were ruled out of the Hang Glider From Hell task in episode five.

The growing furore also forced Rebecca's partner, Harry, to deny rumours that the Olympic gold medallist is pregnant, having flown into Australia to support his future wife.
He tweeted: 'I can honestly say hand on heart, she's not... Unless something went on in the jungle without me? #TeamAdlo'

A jungle insider revealed even ITV employees in the camp don’t know what the medical conditions are that allow celebrities to controversially skip trials.

The source added: ‘We don’t always know exactly why a celebrity has been made exempt, but we take the medical team’s verdict seriously, as the safety of the contestants is paramount.’
